Beautiful Lake Stroll
The weathers not looking too great for Sunday, but I will be there rain or shine, and you never know we might just miss the rain.
This is beautiful, easy 5 mile stroll, around Rudyard Lake, with lots to see, from the beautiful Victorian and early 20th century boat houses, on the western edge of the lake, to the gentle woodlands along the the eastern side, which follows the route of the old railway line.
The lake evokes thoughts of summers on coastal inlets and harbours, especially on a warm sunny day with a gentle breeze and the sounds of the rigging clacking on the yachts.
Famous author Rudyard Kipling, whose parents met here in 1863, and who wrote 'Jungle Book',and poems such as 'If', is named after the lake.
Please bring a packed lunch or snack.
Walking is very popular at the moment and a great way to meet people in a relaxed, carefree and romantic atmosphere.
Please remember that these strolls are in the countryside and it can be muddy after rain, sturdy footwear should always be worn, and a waterproof is also a good idea as the weather can be very fickle at any time of the year.
The walks will be approximately 5 to 7 miles in length around Derby, The Peak District, Staffordshire Moorlands, and none will be too strenuous. Strolls will be classed as either 1=Easy, 2=Moderate, some up hill or down hill walking, 3=Hard some steeper hills and rougher terrain.
CHECK OUT DERBYSHIRE FOR MORE STROLLS.
