Looking for a great night out? Well Derby can be a location that is well worth considering. It has a reasonably large population in its own right but being a county town too, it does attract people in from considerable distances too, so you can often feel that it is a much bigger city. Particularly as there is a large student population too.

Nightlife in Derby is built around the city centre area, in streets such as Friar Gate, The Strand and Sadler Gate which all contain a significant number of clubs and bars, making them the centre of Derby's nightlife.

The city enjoys an abundance of pubs, nightclubs, bars, live music, cabaret , cinemas, theatres and some top quality restaurants too. So whatever you are looking for, Derby will most likely have it and the locals know how to let their hair down and party too.

One unique feature of Derby is that bars and clubs are situated in very close proximity to each other throughout the city centre area so that party people can vary their locations very easily throughout the evening and this does provide a very good range of cultures and experiences. Prices are keen too - because of the level of competition in a relatively compact area, which is a significant bonus. There are choices available to suit all tastes, pockets and ages, there are also very friendly locals who are often happy to answer questions and point you in the right direction. Our locations are currently Revolution Bar in the Strand, which is ideal for our younger guests but at the other end of the scale we run a party night every Friday at the International Hotel, in Burton Rd, which is aimed at those who feel they might now be a little too grown up for mainstream clubbing.

Students are also very well catered for in Derby. The student union bar is located at the University of Derby's Kedleston Road campus is very popular with students and young adults alike and there are also a range of Student pubs around the city.

So if you are looking for a night out and Derby is not your home town - I'd say go for it, it's small enough to give great value but sophisticated enough for you to have a great night out too, with some good choices of venues and a wide range of friendly people to mix with and of all ages too.
