Description:
A once in a lifetime adventure, where a small group can re-visit the traditions of 'old' China. Our carefully constructed tour will feature the following:
CHENGDU is the habitat of giant pandas and city of cotton-rose hibiscus. Located in the west of Sichuan Basin and in the centre of Chengdu Plain, Chengdu covers a total area of 12.3 thousand square kilometres (4,749 square miles) with a population of over 11 million. Sampling the famous Sichuan cuisine is a must on a trip to Chengdu. Enjoying the food as well as the culture, shopping and having tea at a teahouse afford a deeper understanding of Chengdu.
KUNMING known in China as the City of Eternal Spring, at almost-tropical latitude, but 2000 m (6600 ft) altitude which gives it a very temperate climate. The air is also quite clean compared to other Chinese cities. In addition to its own charms it serves as a hub from which to explore Yunnan province. The city has a population of around 3 million. Local attractions are the Karst formations of the Stone Forest at Shilin and the Giant Buddha at Leshan.
LINJIANG- UNESCO site is known for its well-preserved ancient buildings and the distinctive Naxi culture. The aged wooden buildings decked with hanging red lanterns, and local musicians playing centuries-old Naxi instruments in the time worn streets, display a lifestyle and culture that seems lost in time. Lijiang is the gateway to many other tourist attractions including Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the First Bend of the Yangtze River and Tiger Leaping Gorge.
DALI is one of Yunnan's most popular tourist destinations, both for its historic sites and the "Foreigners' Street" that features western-style food, music, and English-speaking business owners, making it popular among both western and Chinese tourists. It is a small unspolt town with a medieval atmosphere and traditional cobble stone streets and a beautiful setting with mountains on one side and Erhai Lake (one of the largest inland lakes in China ) on the other
ZHONGDIAN (Shangri La) is situated on the old Tibetan border in China; it is, in every sense of the word, breathtaking. Zhongdian has, as of yet, managed to avoid the perils of mass tourism and successfully clung on to its unique old border town atmosphere. The moment you enter town you know you've stumbled across something special..Shangri La, as it known today, was first published in a novel by James Hilton called The Lost Horizon It quickly became known as a haven of beauty and tranquility, brimming with mountains, rivers, grasslands and abundant breathtaking landscapes.
