The Bate Hall, Macclesfield
The Bate Hall is an historic pub situated in the heart of Macclesfields' pedestrianised shopping area.
Recently taken over by new owners happy to provide a warm, relaxed environment for customers to enjoy superb home-cooked food, fine wines & real ales in a country pub conveniently placed in the centre of a bustling town.
Built circa 1525, the present property provides an architectural document of the Bate's separate roles of family hearth and public hostelry. In a romantic novelette entitled 'The Lost Heir' or 'Days of the Stuarts' - a tale of Macclesfield in days gone by - there is a reference to The Bate Hall of 1622 as an ancient hostelry. Although it is often prefixed as "16th century", there is some indication that the building dates back to even earlier times
There is a large car park behind the pub (turn left on King Edward Street just before the traffic lights) which is free for the use of our customers
