Columba Hotel, Inverness
The Columba Hotel's atmosphere is in perfect keeping with its location, where modern comfort and contemporary style blend seamlessly with original features dating back to 1881 when the hotel was built. The hotel has been sensitively refurbished recently and the new General Manager Daniel Lawrence is behind changes being implemented to make dining and relaxing at the Columba hard to beat.
Located on the bank of the Ness River, across the river from the city centre, the hotel is conveniently located and yet enjoys an enviable quiet outlook over the river towards the castle. The train and bus station are less than 1km away and parking is only a short walk.
When the Music Stops events will normally take place on the first floor of the hotel where the views from the tall windows immediately command respect - and the airiness of the high ornate ceilings in the upstairs bar and, restaurant create a great ambience. Downstairs McNabs Bar Bistro has a complimentary style but more modern atmosphere with a wide range of malt whiskies and specialist ales from the Black Isle amongst its offerings. Just the place to chill out with new friends.
The hotel‘s new Castle Restaurant upstairs takes complete advantage of its spectacular views of the river and the castle whilst serving a selection of fine local produce and classical dishes.
